Father Christmas Collection
Every December for the last 35 years the Lions have helped Father Christmas
tour Ashtead, Leatherhead, Fetcham and Bookham, and visit the local Supermarkets.
We collect for two specific charities and to finance our own charitable
activities. In 2009 the charities were Surrey Air Ambulance and Combat
Stress (who cater for those suffering mental problems after leaving the
Services; "They fight our wars, we fight their battles ").
In 2009 we collected nearly £7000, just short our record last year,
in spite of having fewer collectors (some of our members are feeling their age!),
and three days succumbed to the ice and snow.
We are very grateful to the members of St Andrew's PTA, Little Bookham W.I. and Eastwick WI for helping with the collections. Next year we have even greater need for help; If you could spare an evening or two in December please ring a member or e-mail us. We would love to see you! In fact, why not join the Club - it's great fun!
